For the independent learning project #2 I chose to design a Prezi. I have never created a Prezi, but I saw a few students projects when we presented and I thought it was worth a try. My experience using Prezi was great. It looks very professional and is more interesting than a PowerPoint, but it was very simple to make. I used a template that was already on the website and I just had to add text (I also added a video). Overall, I loved Prezi and I know that as a teacher I will use it more than PowerPoint because it is easier to use and it is more attention-grabbing. I think that Prezi gets the information across while interesting the audience.

10 - FINAL BLOG!!!

I plan on using data collection tools, such as surveys, very often in my classroom. As a kindergarten teacher, surveys will be most important for the parents to use. I want to use these surveys to obtain information on which parents are coming to open house, which parents are coming into my classroom for class parties and what they plan on bringing, etc. I can use surveys with my students regarding which movie they want to watch, which games we should play during free time, etc. I believe that surveys are very important for both the parents of kindergarten students and students themselves.

The topics I found most interesting in my classmates’ blogs were the independent learning projects. This topic was most interesting to me because most of the projects were different, not everyone wrote about the same project. I liked to see what my peers were interested in and how they plan on using the different devices and programs in their future career.

I think it would be really interesting to learn how to use a 3-D printer. I hope that one day these printers become very popular in schools. Students should be able to design things using up-to-date technology. If I learn how to use a 3-D printer, I could help students in the future.

I might achieve my future educational technology-related goals by reviewing what I learned in this technology class and applying it to my own class as a teacher. I want to be a teacher that is knowledgeable and up-to-date with technology. A teacher like this is quick and effective. All teacher should know about technology, especially in this day and age, and be able to use all different types of programs (especially the common Microsoft ones).
